After the snow finally tapered off this morning, the skies cleared, and the road crews had a chance to plow and treat the roads around the area. The biggest need was in the northern areas, where as much as 8 inches of snow fell in Mount Nebo!

While most of the snow that fell was swept off the main roads and melted, there is still some snow covering the side roads. Anything that didn’t get off the roads could re-freeze later tonight as we lose the sunshine and temperatures fall to below freezing. A warm front is pushing through the region, and clouds have rolled back in, and the radar has a few returns on it. But humidity levels are in the 50% range, so it is unlikely that anything is making it to the ground.

Be sure to take care on the roads later tonight. Lows will wind up in the upper 20s and lower 30s but will stay steady as the winds turn around to the southwest and pick up speed.

Tomorrow, we’ll keep the southwesterly breeze but drive the temperatures up into the upper 40s and lower 50s, about 15 degrees warmer than it was today! There will be plenty of sunshine as well, making the day feel quite pleasant, especially compared to what it was yesterday. In reality, it will still be a few degrees cooler than it should be. Tomorrow night, we’ll drop to near the freezing mark once again.
The nice weather continues through most of Friday before another chance for showers enters the forecast very late on Friday and into Saturday. A warm front overspreads the state and drives high temperatures into the 60s by this weekend – the first time that we’ll see highs at that level in a few days. But, as usual, when a warm front pushes through, a cold front is on its heels, and that will give us a chance for rain on both weekend days, although not a great chance on either day.

Another low arrives towards the end of the forecast, and we’ll keep a chance for rain through the middle of next week.
