Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Soda has officially been removed as an entitlement under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in West Virginia.
Governor Patrick Morrisey joined federal officials today to sign the waiver.
Morrisey says that it builds on the state’s health agenda. West Virginia has also moved to restrict artificial dyes in school food.
Soda is no longer eligible for SNAP, and the Governor said it is another step in improving state public health.
