Slow Start; Snowy Later this Week

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures are cold to start the day, and wind chills are dipping into the teens as the morning commute continues. Make sure you have your layers out, as this cold is not going away anytime soon. At least the sun will be out, which will help our temperatures get above freezing both today and tomorrow. Tuesday afternoon will feel quite nice with temperatures reaching into the upper 40s. Overall, the week starts quietly before the next active pattern begins on Wednesday. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

Rain will start falling on Wednesday morning, which will transition into a mix of rain and snow not too long after starting. The mix will stick around for the afternoon and evening before temperatures drop below freezing, finally completing the switch from rain to snow overnight. Snowfall continues on Thursday, especially in the morning and early afternoon, before gradually dissipating in the evening. During this period, our highest mountains could get 6 inches of snow or more, while the Greenbrier Valley may reach about an inch at best. This will be the first and most widespread round of snow, so you will want to have the shovels and scrapers ready.

After the main round of snow moves off to the east, Friday will be a calmer day overall. There is a slight chance for a rogue snow shower or two, but these chances are much lower and less impactful than previous days. Saturday rings in the second round of any significant activity as a low-pressure system passes to the north, bringing snow into our region as well. To end off the weekend, a chance of snow lingers but will be calmer, similar to Friday. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
