Skeletal remains discovered in Mercer County

Bluefield, WV (WOAY)  – Police are investigating after discovering skeletal remains in Mercer County. 

On Monday afternoon, A tree-cutting company working on Sherman Oaks Road, right off Airport Road, in Bluefield discovered the remains in a wooded area and notified authorities. 

State troopers responded to the call and confirmed that the remains were human but could not determine the victim’s gender or cause of death. 

The remains have been transported to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s office for identification. 

Authorities advise anyone with relevant information to contact the state police Princeton detachment at 304-425-2101.
