WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Rain is continuing to fall this morning. Most activity is light, but a couple patches of heavy rain may cause some minor visibility issues. Roads are slick, so be careful as you drive this morning. Temperatures are sticking in the upper 40s and lower 50s this morning as rain falls. Rain gear and a warmer jacket are recommended for your morning travels. Showers will begin to clear later this morning, signifying the beginning of the end for this rainy pattern.
By the afternoon, most of the showers will be gone. Clouds begin to dissipate as well, bringing us from mostly cloudy to mostly clear skies this evening. Temperatures will only reach the mid-60s, but the evening commute will be smoother than this morning. After rain dissipates, it will be gone for a while. High pressure will set up to the north, which will have a great effect on our weather. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest:
Sunny skies and cooler temperatures will dominate the forecast on Friday and this weekend. We can thank the high-pressure system to our north for keeping us in the clear for a while. Cooler air sticks around as well, bringing overnight temperatures into the 40s. Afternoon highs will reach the mid- to upper 60s for the next few days. I would recommend a lighter jacket through the weekend, but you will be able to shed it next week.
Skies stay mostly sunny for the first half of next week. The difference between this weekend and next week is the increase in high temperatures. Monday starts off nicely, but highs will end up reaching the upper 70s again by Wednesday. This is great for those who wanted to keep some warmer temperatures, but not the best for those ready for fall. Either way, the next five or six days are shaping up to be absolutely gorgeous.
