St. Albans, WV (WOAY)-This morning around 6 a.m., a dramatic scene unfolded in Saint Albans as the Special Response Team with the city’s police department attempted to serve a felony arrest and search warrant at a home on B Street.
The warrant was tied to a shooting investigation out of Charleston.
As officers knocked and announced themselves, they were met with gunfire from inside the residence.
None of the officers were injured, and police did not return fire.
The suspect was safely taken into custody a short time later.
An adult woman and a young child were also inside the home but were not hurt.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Section is now leading the case in coordination with the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office and Saint Albans Police.
A heavy police presence remains in the area, and authorities say more information will be released later today.
