NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Monday night, the Nicholas County School Board awarded Shannon Keenan as a teacher of the year.
Shannon Keenan has been teaching for twelve years and is a special education teacher at Summersville Middle School. She is also a member of the school’s leadership team and is a mentor to other special education teachers. Mrs. Keenan even started a program with local businesses and restaurants to help her students with their social skills, but this program has been put on hold due to the pandemic.
“We try to raise money and do fundraisers,” said Teacher of the Year Shannon Keenan. “We take our students out to eat a couple of times a year to restaurants to teach them how it is to dine in a restaurant, how to order, use money, and things like that.”
Mrs. Keenan said she is very humbled to be awarded teacher of the year. Congratulations to her on this well-deserved award.
