Sex offender’s conviction affirmed by Supreme Court

PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – Henry Vincent Bennett, who was found guilty of child sex abuse last year, just had his case affirmed by the Supreme Court.

Bennett was originally sentenced back in March of 2019, but his case was just affirmed by the Supreme Court, meaning it will not be seen for appeal.

Adam Wolfe with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office says that although the case was very complex in nature, it was well put together and led to a confession.

“Child Protect of Mercer County, our partner in a lot of our federal grants, they just did a great job of getting these kids interviewed, getting the disclosures out. And we were able to try this case without putting the victims on the stand because the case was so well put together,” Wolfe said.

Bennett is expected to serve 80-200 years in prison.
