West Virginia (WOAY) Several West Virginia counties are still looking for people to serve as poll workers for this year’s general election.
Election day is Tuesday, November 3.
According to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s office, poll workers must be registered to vote in the county where they serve, be able to read and write in English, attend required training, and be available to work on election day.
Eligible high school juniors and seniors may also serve in some circumstances.
Poll workers are paid for training and for their work on election day.
Duties can include setting up the polling place, verifying voter information, greeting voters, issuing ballots, and securing election materials after the polls close.
The counties currently seeking additional poll workers include Berkeley, Brooke, Cabell, Clay, Doddridge, Fayette, Hardy, Jefferson, Lincoln, Logan, Ohio, Randolph, Tyler, Wayne, and Wood.
The Secretary of State’s Office says not every county will need additional workers, so people who sign up will be contacted by their county clerk as needed.
Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on election day.
