Senator Shelley Moore Capito wins Republican primary for Senate, defeats challenge from crowded field

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) Senator Shelley Moore Capito, West Virginia’s senior senator and the fourth most powerful Republican in the Senate, has once again advanced to the November general election.

According to the Associated Press, she has defeated challenges from a crowded field that included Tom Willis, Alexander Gaaserud, Bryan McKinney, Janet McNult, and David Purkey.

She will face off against the winner of the Democratic primary in a bid for her third term in the Senate.
