Senator Joe Manchin introduces bill, the POST Act

WEST VIRGINIA (WOAY) – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin held a video press call to discuss his bill, the POST Act, and legislation he is introducing this week to address issues with the U.S. Postal Service.

Just a few weeks ago, several West Virginia post offices were closed unexpectedly, and reports have surfaced that the Postal Service was considering changing their long-standing practice of treating all election mail as first-class mail.

“I saw first hand, there were 21 post offices in West Virginia, ten was supposed to be closed, and three of them already had notices, one in my hometown of Fairmont that it would be closing at the end of August. That’s how I got involved in this. I couldn’t believe it,” said Manchin.

Senator Manchin visited four U.S. Postal Service locations around the state.
