Senator Capito speaks on Gary water crisis

GARY, WV (WOAY ) – The water crisis in Gary is anticipated to continue until a new water pump can be installed.

Governor Justice has ordered the West Virginia National Guard and West Virginia Emergency Management Division to provide necessary resources to Gary. Senator Shelly Moore-Capito spoke on the water crisis today.

“Well I think what we see in Gary is really troubling because people should have access to clean water at all times every time,” Capito said. “The systems in Southern West Virginia, some of them are very antiquated. They’re under capitalized. They don’t have the resources to be able to move forward. I think the pumps died there and there was no way to get the water to the citizens.”

The new pump is in progress to be up and running soon to provide clean water for Gary.
