WASHINGTON, D.C. (WOAY) – This week, Senate Republicans announced their HEALS Act proposal.
The proposal centers around a second round of direct stimulus payments, cutting unemployment benefits and limiting state and local funding. The Republican proposal diverges from the approval by the House Democrats in May.
“The Heals Act, that is the Republican proposal which I support, is a targeted approach to making sure that we’re addressing the issues that are still struggling under this pandemic,” said Senator Shelley Moore-Capito. “That would be the health issue, for instance. More testing. More vaccine development. More therapeutics. More PPE. We’ve got to keep moving forward with that.”
Senators hope to get the next COVID relief bill to the White House in the next few weeks.
