Secretary of State’s office announces over 1,900 new registered businesses last month

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – The Secretary of State’s office announced over 1,900 new registered businesses statewide for April.

Out of the 1,975 new businesses registered, the top five counties in new businesses registered are Monongalia, Kanawha, Berkeley, Raleigh, and Jefferson.

West Virginia registered 19,900 businesses in the last 12-month period from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026.

171,194 businesses are registered with the Secretary of State’s office to do business in the mountain state.

The top 5 counties for business growth were Webster, Clay, Pocahontas, Wayne, and Wyoming.

Webster County led the pack in business growth with a total of 8 new business registrations, a 2.45% increase.

The Secretary of State also wants to remind business owners that annual reports are due by June 30. You can file now through the WV one-stop business portal.
