Scouting America opens its 2026 National Jamboree Wednesday

Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – Southern West Virginia is about to get a lot more crowded. Scouting America opens its 2026 National Jamboree Wednesday at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean.

About 15,000 scouts, leaders, and staff from every corner of the country will fill the property for 10 days of ziplining, rock climbing, whitewater, shooting sports, and arena shows.

It’s Scouting America’s premier event, and the Summit hosts it just once every four years. Bringing that many people together takes serious planning.

The jamboree runs through July 31, and with that many visitors arriving at once, Scouting America is asking drivers around Glen Jean and Fayette County to allow extra time as scouts come in on Wednesday and head home at the end of the month.
