School officials celebrate a few Raleigh County educators for making high marks

Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – School officials in Raleigh County are celebrating a few of their educators for making high marks on a statewide level.

Beckley Stratton Middle, Park Middle, Independence Middle, Independence High, and Woodrow Wilson High are all recipients of PBIS bronze medals in recognition of their achievement of bronze status.

PBIS is an acronym for positive behavioral interventions and supports. It’s a multi-tiered framework designed to improve students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health outcomes.

PBIS is a collaborative effort made possible by the West Virginia Department of Education and the WV Autism Training Center at Marshall University.

Officials with Raleigh County Schools say they will continue to strive toward 100% PBIS  bronze status for the 2025-2026 school year.

They are excited to begin rolling out tier 2 PBIS practices as they move towards silver status in the future.
