GARY, WV (WOAY) – As the water crisis in Gary continues, another aspect the town’s residents have to worry about is the issue of sanitation.
During the pandemic, it’s critical that people stay healthy and wash their hands. But the lack of a basic water supply is making that much more difficult for the residents.
Larry Barber, a city recorder at Gary, says the problem is even more serious due to their large elderly population.
“Everybody talks about sanitizing, so we’re trying to keep everybody with enough water to where they can actually sanitize because we’re worried about this COVID possibility.”
It’s estimated that the town of 800 people may be out of water for at least another week.
