Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Heads up, shoppers! West Virginia’s annual Sales Tax Holiday is right around the corner.
It kicks off at midnight on Friday, August 1, and runs through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 4.
During this time, certain items are completely exempt from sales tax. That includes clothing priced at $125 or less, school supplies under $50, instructional materials under $20, and even laptops or tablets priced at $500 or less.
Sports equipment under $150 also qualifies.
There’s no limit on the total purchase amount; make sure each item falls within the price limits to be tax-free.
However, be aware that items used for business, accessories, rentals, and protective gear, such as hard hats or sports pads, are still subject to tax.
Online purchases also qualify, provided the order is placed and paid for during the holiday period.
