Rocket Fest blasting off at Pipestem State Park on October 17

Pipestem, WV (WOAY)-A fun-fueled day is taking place at Pipestem Resort State Park as the first-ever Rocket Fest blasts off on Friday, October 17. 

Special guests and real-life Rocketboys Homer Hickam and Roy Lee Cooke will be in attendance. 

There will be live WTNJ radio broadcasts taking place in the McKeever lodge lobby until 10 am. 

At 9:00 am, there will be a free student Q&A event at Summers County High School.

Another Q&A session will take place at 10:30 am at Pipestem’s McKeever Lodge for high school and middle schoolers.  

At 2:00 pm, there will be a free community Q&A and book signing event, which is open to the public and homeschool families.  

Lift-off begins at 4:00 pm at the championship golf course driving range, allowing guests to watch a rocket launch. 

If you’re hungry, head to McKeever Lodge from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm for the Coalwood Way buffet for $24.99.  

Cap it all off with live music, cold brews, and a can signing with the Rocket Boys at the black bear grill from 6 to 8 pm, featuring the new Oktoberfest from Greenbrier Valley Brewing and Fat Bottom Coolers.
