Morgantown, WV (WOAY) – It’s a case of out with the old and in with the new in Morgantown.
Reese Allen is assuming the role of Mountaineer mascot at West Virginia University.
The University made it official with a symbolic musket passing ceremony in Morgantown on Friday, April 17, 2025.
Reese Allen is a senior at WVU from Bridgeport, WV, with a dual major in mechanical engineering and data science. He says he hasn’t shaved his beard since he was a freshman, hoping to represent the university one day.
Allen accepted the musket from former
mascot Cade Kincaid. Kincaid is from Fayetteville.
