Renaissance Village Apartments completed and ready for residents

WELCH, WV (WOAY) – The McDowell Renaissance Village Apartment Complex is now open after roughly a year of construction.

The Renaissance Village started construction in August of 2019 and was designed to be a new residence for teachers. The county has had a major teacher shortage in recent years, and those behind the project are hoping the new apartments will encourage more teachers to move to McDowell County.

There are 16 apartments available for rent, as well as commercial space for local businesses. However the project organizers say the business space could be converted into more apartments if there is need for it.

The Renaissance Village Apartment Complex is also the first multi-story building to be constructed in Welch in roughly 50 years.
