West Virginia (WOAY) – The Red Cross is encouraging everyone to volunteer and keep the national blood supply stable in recognition of National Volunteer Month.
The organization depends on donors to collect over 12,000 blood donations daily.
Type O blood and platelets are in high demand to ensure medical facilities can continue saving lives.
For some added initiative, the Red Cross is giving away exclusive t-shirts to donors who give now through April 30.
Donors will also be entered for a chance to win a $5,000 prize.
There will be three winners.
