Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) A Raleigh County woman has been sentenced in a Fayette County court on felony drug charges.
According to a media release from Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Ciliberti Jr., on Monday, February 2, 32-year-old Cassidy F. Raines of Beaver, was sentenced to 3 to 15 years in prison for felony possession of fentanyl withintent to distribute.
Raines plead guilty to the charge on December 1.
Judge Sam Fox referred Raines to the GOALS substance abuse disorder treatment program, allowing her to request early release after successfully finishing the program.
According to court documents, the charges and sentencing stem from a traffic stop on March 11 after an Oak Hill Police Officer stopped a vehicle that made an improper turn.
A K9 officer on the scene detected drugs in the vehicle following the traffic stop, leading to a search revealing drug paraphernalia, digital scales, and suspected controlled substances.
Raines confessed to possessing the controlled substances and that she intended to sell them.
Laboratory testing confirmed Raines possessed 8.5 grams of fentanyl and more than 13 grams of crack cocaine.
