Beckley, WV (WOAY) The Raleigh County Veterans and First Responders Museum will host a special Quilts of Valor award ceremony this weekend.
The event will honor six local veterans for their service and sacrifice on Saturday, December 27, at 1:00 p.m., at the Veterans Museum on South Eisenhower Drive in Beckley.
Each of the six veterans will receive a handmade Quilt of Valor.
Volunteers created the quilts as a symbol of gratitude, comfort, and healing for those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The event is open to the public.
Family, friends, fellow veterans, and supporters are all welcome to take part in this meaningful recognition of service and patriotism.
Quilts of Valor is a national program honoring veterans who have been “touched by war,” while the Raleigh County Veterans and First Responders Museum preserves more than 30,000 artifacts spanning conflicts from the Revolutionary War through the War on Terror.
