Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Raleigh County United for Prevention partnered with American Eagle Outfitters to paint a mural in Sophia to honor area first responders.
This mural is to show appreciation for those who are always on the front lines, and it means so much to the community.
Sophia is special to mural artist Hannah Hughes-Moore.
“I grew up right down the road. I drive by here all the time. I got my first library card like one block that way,” said Hughes-Moore. “So it’s really cool.”
According to the mural artist, she is glad to get to do something that people will enjoy for a long time.
“It’s great to sort of let them see a manifestation of what they’re doing in the community,” Hughes-Moore said. “I just got trained in first aid by some first responders recently and was just blown away by how much they have to constantly keep in mind and be ready to respond to things. So it’s definitely important work.”
