Raleigh County Sheriffs warn residents about scam calls

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Raleigh County residents should once again be on the lookout for scam calls from criminals posing as Sheriff’s deputies.

Authorities report that scammers find real numbers from the Sheriff’s office and use them to appear more legitimate.

Callers then contact residents, claiming they have an arrest warrant due to a missed court appearance.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind residents that they will never call to ask for money and advises anyone who receives one of these calls to hang up immediately and call the Sheriff’s Office at 304-255-9300.
