Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Sgt. Brian White is stepping away from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department after 14 years of service, having worked his way up through nearly every role in the office.
“Brian White was a great deputy. He started out as a bailiff. He went on to be, of course, a corporal and a sergeant and a shift supervisor,” Priddy said.
Along the way, White took on a pair of specialized assignments. One, he said, was suited just for him.
“So I was here for 14 years, and my most favorite part on a personal level was being the firearms instructor. I love firearms,” White said.
Sheriff Priddy said another of White’s roles was one of the most important in the office.
“He was our chaplain and he led the guys and would fellowship with the guys and they would come to him with different things and different situations. And he helped a lot of the younger guys with that and he’s going to be missed,” Priddy said.
Now, White is moving on to a new full-time job at home.
“My son and daughter both work and I’m running the day care and I’m watching my grandson. So I call it Pop’s day care. Outside of that, just spending time in my garage … just trying to enjoy life,” White said.
