Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office promotes one its own to sergeant

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Corporal Robert Robinson is honored to be promoted to sergeant by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.

He looks forward to taking on the responsibility of the role, overseeing road patrol, and serving as a mentor to others in the department.

Robinson always wanted to be in law enforcement.

“I worked for the street department for ten years before I started working at the sheriff’s department. And it’s a step I was glad I took,” Robinson said. “Since I’ve been here, I’ve been on road patrol for about four years. I went to the detective bureau for about six years, and now I’m back on the road.”

According to Robinson, if you have a victim who has been through a traumatic experience, you want to help them get justice.

“Whether it be a family member that was robbed or even murdered — to see that case to completion and then get some resolution for that family and some closure for them is rewarding,” the new sergeant said.
