Raleigh County Schools receive high marks on a statewide level

Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – School officials in Raleigh County are celebrating a few of their schools for gaining high marks on a statewide level.

Beckley Stratton Middle, Park Middle, Independence Middle, Independence High, and Woodrow Wilson High Schools are all recipients of PBIS Bronze Medals in recognition of their achievement of bronze status.

PBIS is an acronym for positive behavioral interventions and supports. The multi-tiered framework is designed to improve students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health outcomes.

PBIS is a collaborative effort made possible by the West Virginia Department of Education and the WV Autism Training Center at Marshall University.

Officials with Raleigh County Schools say they will continue to strive 100% PBIS bronze status for the 2025-2026 school year.

They are excited to begin rolling out Tier 2 PBIS practices as they move towards Silver Status in the future.
