Raleigh County offers more free testing after seeing travel-related COVID-19 cases

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Free community testing in Raleigh County was offered today at the Raleigh County Convention Center.

The testing comes just after the state has seen multiple spikes in cases, including two individuals from Raleigh County who tested positive after traveling to Myrtle Beach.

Candace Hurd, an administrator at the Raleigh County Health Department said they had seen hundreds of people take advantage of the free testing today.

“We’ve done quite a few first-thing this morning. I think we did 100 in our first hour. So we’re just encouraging the community, this is your opportunity to get tested without waiting, without a doctor’s order. All you have to do is come through, it doesn’t cost you anything and we’ll get you those results,” Hurd said.

The Raleigh County Health Department will continue to hold drive-thru testing every Wednesday.
