Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – A man has been arrested in Raleigh County following an animal cruelty investigation.
According to a media release from the Raleigh County Sherriff’s Office, on June 5, 2025, deputies were dispatched to the Naoma area of Raleigh County to investigate a report that a dog named “Roxy” had allegedly been shot by a neighbor identified by Joel Lynn Dick.
Later that morning, dispatch received a call the owner informing them that “Roxy” had sadly passed due to her injuries. At that point Animal Control Officer Feller and Cpl. C. Schack took over and began a death investigation related to the animal.
As a result of the death investigation Cpl. Shack obtained warrants and arrested Joel Lynn Dick for Cruelty to animals Use or presentation of a firearm during commission of a felony.
On Wednesday June 11, 2025, Raleigh County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Joel Lynn Dick at his residence.
