Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – A Raleigh County man has been arrested following the discovery of illegal substances in his vehicle on Sunday morning.
59-year-old William Jentry Elam, of Beaver has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to a media release from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.
The media release said deputies responded to reports of an unresponsive male in a vehicle parked at a gas station along Ritter Drive in Beaver about 2:30 a.m. Once they confirmed Elam did not need medical attention, investigators found drug paraphernalia in his car and had a K-9 officer complete a sniff test to confirm.
Deputies executed a search of the vehicle and reported finding more than 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 6.31 grams of suspected fentanyl. Officers estimated the street value of both substances at $6,700.
William J. Elam has been arraigned and taken to Southern Regional Jail. His bond is set at $50,000.
