BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The Raleigh County Humane Society is holding more fundraisers.
The humane society is responsible for fundraising 80% of its entire annual budget and heavily depends on community support. But the pandemic has put a halt to most of their fundraising.
According to India Hosch, the Vice President of the Humane Society’s Board of Directors, this weekend they’re holding a jail and bail event, where popular locals spend time in cages, and participants donate money to the shelter.Â
“We’re hoping this is gonna draw them out here and not only will they make a donation, but they’ll visit our cat room, and visit our dogs and do some great adoptions because we do have some awesome animals. We’re trying to hit really fast, some fundraisers here that are gonna help to bring in some funds for us, just because we haven’t had any money coming in,” Hosch said.Â
The humane society is always looking for donations and will have more fundraisers in the near future.
