Raleigh County Family Support Center invites you to Community Night

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – El Mariachi in Beaver has graciously volunteered to host a community night to aid the Raleigh County Family Support Center (RCFSC).

The restaurant champions community work, with 20 percent of proceeds supporting youth and family organizations.

“Everybody goes out (and) they learn about RCFSC. They get to have awesome food, and our community has been super supportive of all of our work; means the world,” said executive director Kellie Gunnoe.

Each of their board of directors rallies other community partners and everyone is excited about what RCFSC is doing.

“Seeing how excited they are is my favorite part ’cause these kids and these families, they’re not used to some of that support,” Gunnoe said. “It’s nice to watch.”

Any of their locations have a resource closet with clothing. The cleaning supply resource closet was a request of the local housing authorities — one of the main reasons for evictions in public housing is deplorable conditions.

“Providing those cleaning supplies and those tools for families to be able to clean,” said the executive director. “Our hygiene closet, our baby pantry is located with Saint Stephen’s Episcopal downstairs in their basement. They’ve been huge champions for us and really the center serves as just a drop-in and a change of scenery.”

There are computers, board games, toys…

“Things for kids and their families to play with. And there’s all kinds of different services that they can receive at the centers,” Gunnoe said. “And these families talk about just how grateful they are to have that stable service there for them.”

Come join the RCFSC for a good cause from 5 to 9 pm, Monday, July 29 at El Mariachi in Beaver, 237 Airport Road.

“We’re super appreciative of everybody rallying around the Family Support Center and the Raleigh County Prevention Coalition. We couldn’t ask for a better community.”
