BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – At the top of the agenda for next Tuesday’s Raleigh County Commission meeting is a vote to appoint Daniel Hall as a temporary commissioner for District 1. If the commission votes to approve that appointment, he would be the temporary replacement for former president Dave Tolliver, who passed away earlier this month.
The vote is an item at the top of an extremely busy agenda for the county commission meeting, which also includes consideration of the annexation of Mt. Hope and consideration of multiple grants.
Hall is a former state senator and delegate. Notably, he switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican in 2014, a move that officially gave Republicans the majority in the state senate.
He is the president of Access Strategies, a government affairs and public relations firm.
Hall previously ran for county commissioner in 2022 against Tolliver, along with Robert Mooney and Lucy Lester. Tolliver won that primary election.
Hall will also be on the ballot to assume the role full-term in November after the Raleigh County Republican Executive Committee selected him to run for the now-vacant seat after a special meeting last week.
