Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – The Raleigh County Commission is making moves to improve services to taxpayers.
According to a media release, a grand opening is planned for a new Sheriff and Assessor’s Office. The new facility will be located at 2786 Flat Top Road, Ghent, WV.
The new office will bring essential county services closer to residents in the southern part of Raleigh County. Services the Assessor’s office provides including property assessments, as well as pay county taxes at this location can conveniently be accessed at the new location.
The presence of the Sheriff’s Office will enhance public safety and provide a consistent law enforcement presence in the area.
“We are excited to open this new office in Ghent,” said the Raleigh County Commission President Greg Duckworth. “It reflects our continued commitment to making government services more accessible and responsive to the needs of our citizens.”
“The opening of this new Sheriff’s Office in southern Raleigh County represents our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of every resident, no matter where they live,” commented Raleigh County Sheriff Frank Priddy. “By placing a presence in Ghent, we’re improving response times and making law enforcement services more accessible to the community. We’re also pleased to provide a convenient Sheriff’s Tax Office so citizens can handle their tax business close to home.”
“We are proud to expand our services with the opening of a new Assessor’s Office in southern Raleigh County. This new location in Ghent will provide greater access and convenience for residents in this part of the county, making it easier for them to take care of their property assessment needs without having to travel to Beckley,” according to Raleigh County Assessor Linda Sumner. “It’s all about bringing county services closer to the people we serve.”
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
