Raleigh county commission president passes away, remembered by Senator Manchin

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Raleigh County Commission President Dave Tolliver has passed away from what county leaders are referring to as a “health emergency.”

Tolliver, a three-term commissioner, was first elected in 2010. He became commission president in 2013.

Tolliver was respected in Raleigh County and beyond. Senator Joe Manchin issued a statement today mourning the loss of Tolliver, who Manchin said he considered a dear friend.

“For more than a decade, Dave was devoted to serving the people of Raleigh County and the entire Mountain State. He was tirelessly dedicated to improving Raleigh County’s critical infrastructure, especially in helping to ensure all residents had access to clean, safe water. Dave was compassionate, honest, and widely respected by all and I am grateful to have known him,” Manchin said.

The other two Raleigh County Commissioners, Greg Duckworth and Linda K. Epling, will appoint Tolliver’s successor.
