BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – For 10 years, the Raleigh County Commission has tried to bring the Harper-Eccles Sewer Extension project to fruition.
According to Greg Duckworth, things have been moving along, and they expect to put the project out to bid by spring 2026.
“With federal cutbacks and the cost of materials, it’s been a moving target. Almost lost the project. They were able to split it in half or maybe in three and do it in phases,” the Commission president said.
“So we were able to give $500,000 today to help the PSD save $7 million, to not lose that funding, to continue with the project,” said Duckworth. “The PSD is going to continue to work. We were able to help support that and keep the mission moving.”
