WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Tonight is the calm before the preverbal storm, though there won’t actually be thunder and lightning with these rain showers. Tomorrow afternoon will bring the start of the rain, which will be on and off through the weekend as two systems come through the area in quick succession.
LONG-TERM: For the long-term outlook, we expect the rain to continue in patches early next week, turning into lingering snow showers on Wednesday, also New Year’s Day. Cold air will arrive then, dropping temperatures into the 30s and driving mountainous snow in our area. Safe to say you’ll need a rain jacket through the next 7 days.
