WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures are ranging between the upper 50s and mid-60s this morning, resulting in a milder morning than the last couple of days. Patchy fog is also developing in the usual spots, mainly in the eastern half of the viewing area. Drive carefully and use your low beams if you encounter fog. Thankfully, the rest of the morning will be smooth sailing as conditions remain dry. Cloud cover will increase later this morning, becoming the first signal of change for our area. Temperatures will rise into the mid-80s this afternoon, but that is not the only concern today.
A cold front is slowly approaching the region from the Great Lakes. It will not arrive today, but there is the potential for scattered showers and storms ahead of the system. Any storms that form in the region have potential for heavy rainfall, which could cause minor flooding issues. Most of the region should be able to handle the rain for today, but a few vulnerable spots could end up with ponding water. The chance for issues is low, but not zero. Storms will likely stay sub-severe, although a gusty storm or two is possible. Activity will peak this afternoon and evening before fading a bit overnight. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest:
Showers and storms continue tomorrow, lasting from morning until the evening at least. Morning activity should limit storm strength yet again, leaving localized water issues as the main concern. Activity will peak again in the afternoon as the cold front finally passes through the region. Storms will slowly move south, eventually fading away just after sunset. I do not anticipate major delays to football games, but a couple of games may experience lightning delays depending on how long storms end up lasting. Conditions will clear up overnight on Friday, giving us a break from the rain.
Saturday morning will be the best part of the next week or so due to dry conditions and slightly cooler temperatures. Unfortunately for those looking for another dry streak, the rain will return later in the day. Storms and showers remain isolated on Saturday as the next frontal system remains to our west, but some afternoon and evening plans may be affected. The rain returns at full force on Sunday as the front passes through our region. Localized flooding becomes a concern again, and this trend will continue into next week.

The front that passes through on Sunday will stop in its tracks just to our south, becoming a stationary front. As a result, rain chances will extend well into next week. Both Monday and Tuesday carry a 60% chance while Wednesday falls off a bit. Numerous showers and storms are expected throughout the region. The consistent rainfall will bring localized flooding concerns to the front of our forecast, especially in vulnerable areas. This stretch of rainy weather is not slated to be extreme, but minor flooding is a possibility. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
