Looking ahead to storm #1 on Tuesday/Wednesday. The southern areas will likely get in on rain for longer than the northern areas will. But, as we head into late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, everyone should see snowflakes falling throughout the area. Not much accumulation will take place, but with temperatures already so cold, expect accumulation. Heading into Wednesday night and Thursday morning, some remaining water could definitely refreeze as temps dip to below freezing once again.
Not looking at much in the way of snowfall accumulation, but areas in the light blue could see a good 1-3 inches of snow with this system through Wednesday. A dusting to an inch most likely across the Greenbrier Valley. Depending on where the low pressure center ends up tracking, could extend the 1-3 further south towards Mercer County, but as of now they stay in a dusting to 1.
After that system leaves Wednesday, we are dry for the remainder of Wednesday into Thursday, as we await yet another system Friday into Saturday. This one looks to be much bigger than the previous, and also has a lot more questions. Depending on where the low center tracks, could be looking at widespread accumulations for Southern West Virginia, or a near miss for most of us. We will continue to track this system into the week!
Looking ahead at the full 7 day forecast. Notice, there are some temperatures above 32! Temperatures above freezing will happen for some people Tuesday and Friday, but they will be brief. By the weekend, temps drop off into the 20’s and low 30’s again.
