Rain moves in tonight, but Memorial Day remains mostly dry

Rain is moving into southern West Virginia this evening, with most of us likely to see at least a sprinkle before the night is over. The good news? Most of tonight’s rain will stay light, so flooding isn’t a concern—for now. That could change by Tuesday, when a stronger round of heavy rain is expected to move through the area.

Thanks to tonight’s clouds and showers, temperatures won’t be quite as chilly as they were last night. Still, it’s a good idea to have a jacket handy if you’re heading out.

We’ll begin to dry out early tomorrow morning, with only a few lingering showers possible. Most folks should stay dry throughout Memorial Day, and any rain that does pop up in the afternoon should be light and brief—so your holiday plans should be just fine.

Looking ahead, heavier rain arrives overnight Monday into Tuesday, setting the stage for a soggy day. Temperatures will also drop, falling from the mid-60s on Monday to the upper 50s on Tuesday.

By Wednesday, we’ll start to warm back up into the 70s, with only spotty showers expected through Saturday.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and stay weather-aware as we head into a wet week!
