As of Thursday, October 2nd, the majority of the area is still sitting in some sort of drought. The worst drought is still up to the north, but has still slightly improved. Parts of Pocahontas and Nicholas Counties are still in the Level 4/5 “Extreme” drought. As we head into this next week, we will see some improvements with rain moving in!

A cold front will sweep through the region, not only dropping our temperatures, but also bringing a much needed chance for rain starting late afternoon Tuesday, going through mid-afternoon Wednesday. Most of this rain should fall early Wednesday morning from 12-8am

Looking ahead for the next 7 days, mid 70’s should be common in the area through early week before the cold front moves through late Tuesday night. Temperatures will cool behind the front, hanging out in the mid to upper 60’s through late week! Football Friday looks like a clear day, but will be chilly as everyone heads home from the games!
