Public Service Commission of West Virginia approve agreement allowing McDowell County PSD to take over management of Bradshaw sewer system

McDowell County, WV (WOAY)- The Public Service Commission of West Virginia has taken a significant step toward fixing longstanding issues in McDowell County.

On Wednesday, the commission approved an operational agreement that would enable the McDowell County Public Service District to assume management of Bradshaw’s troubled sewer system.

But that approval comes with key conditions.

Bradshaw must first issue a proper public notice, both parties must finalize the agreement without further changes, and the district must adopt the town’s current service rates.

The PSC’s order now clears the way for McDowell County to operate and maintain the system, with jurisdiction officially transferring from the town.

While Bradshaw’s town council approved the agreement last November, it wasn’t filed with the commission until earlier this year.

Officials say the transfer should happen as soon as possible.

According to the system’s most recent annual report, only 112 customers were connected to the system.
