Public Service Commission issues statement to Frontier customers about recent copper telephone network notices

West Virginia (WOAY) The West Virginia Public Service Commission is reassuring Frontier customers that recent notices about the company’s copper telephone network do not mean their service is about to be disconnected.

The letters are part of a federal regulatory process involving plans to eventually phase out certain traditional copper-based telephone services where an approved replacement is available.

PSC Chairman Charlotte Lane says customers don’t need to take immediate action, and their service will continue.

The commission says customers would receive another notice with a specific disconnection date if their service is ultimately scheduled to end.

Potential replacements could include fiber, wireless, or other approved voice services.

The PSC also says Frontier customers should continue reporting service and repair problems to the company.

Customers who cannot resolve landline issues with Frontier can contact the Public Service Commission for assistance.

The commission says it will continue monitoring the transition to ensure customers, particularly those in rural areas, maintain reliable telephone service.
