CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia has approved the sale of three Fayette County public utilities.
Armstrong Public Service District, Kanawha Falls Public Service District and Paige Kincaid Public Service District will be dissolved by the Fayette County Commission, and their assets will be sold to West Virginia American Water.
Under the terms of the agreement, West Virginia American Water will begin planning a project to fix leaking sewage in Cannelton Hollow.
Rates for customers of those utilities will be increased over the next three years to bring them up to West Virginia American Water’s rates.
The sale has not been completed, however. The order from the commission explicitly says that Kanawha Falls’s assets can not be transferred until the injunction issued by Fayette County Circuit Judge Tom Fast in a case brought by a local engineering firm over allegations of unpaid debt is satisfied.
