Princeton’s annual Downtown Countdown returns on December 31 to ring in 2026

Princeton, WV (WOAY)If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to ring in the new year, the Mercer Street Grassroots District has just the thing.

Princeton’s 13th annual Downtown Countdown returns on Wednesday, December 31.

There are some returning attractions and new things on the schedule this year, such as the It’s Midnight Somewhere Piñata Party for the kids at 6:00 pm.

The parade starts at 8:00 pm and kicks off the rest of the jam-packed event.

The Downtown Countdown will have a wealth of things to see and do.

The event features cirque performers, ice sculptors, fire throwers, live music, a gaming trailer, delicious food, a midnight ball drop, and so much more.

The community chooses a Princeton resident to do the honors of dropping the ball at midnight, and this year, there is no one more deserving than the Princeton Tigers football team following their championship win.

This year’s downtown countdown is special as all music venues and activities are all free thanks to the event’s generous sponsors.
