MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Immunizations have been politicized, from the COVID world to Governor Morrissey recently allowing families to apply for mandated childhood vaccine exemptions.
Princeton Community Hospital’s Karen Bowling says we are not a third-world country, with measles and other outbreaks.
She added there’s much research about vaccines, calling them reliable.
“It’s very clear if you don’t have herd immunity, that’s what causes measles outbreaks. I’m using that as one example,” said the PCH president/CEO. “All the childhood immunizations are important, and they’re all very safe and effective.”
She calls the ability to get immunized a gift.
“We need to take advantage of that. Children who can’t take advantage, we’re protecting them because we’re getting our children and grandchildren immunized,” Bowling said. “I’d like to emphasize the importance of getting your children immunized appropriately and talking to your provider.”
