Princeton Community Healthcare caregiver Madge Howard retires after almost 60 years of service helping to deliver an estimated 29,000 babies

Princeton, WV (WOAY) A remarkable chapter in local healthcare is coming to a close.

After nearly six decades of service, a longtime caregiver at Princeton Community Hospital is retiring, leaving behind a legacy that spans generations.
Madeline, known to many as Madge Howard, spent 58 years and four months in labor and delivery, helping welcome an estimated 29,000 babies into the world.
What started as a short-term housekeeping job turned into a lifelong career in patient care.
Howard was there when the hospital moved into its current facility in 1970 and continued serving families as the Women’s Center expanded in the decades that followed.
Over the years, she cared for multiple generations, delivering babies for mothers, daughters, and even granddaughters.
As she steps away, Howard says it’s not just the job she’ll miss but a lifetime of beginnings.
