Powerball jackpot soars to $1.3 billion after no winners on labor day

West Virginia (WOAY) – No one had the winning Powerball ticket Monday night.

The jackpot has jumped to $1.3 billion after no ticket matched all the lucky numbers.

While the largest prize went unclaimed, at least two tickets sold in Montana and North Carolina won two million dollars, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association.

The next chance to win big will be Wednesday, September 3.

If someone wins the jackpot, they can receive $1.3 billion over 30 years or a one-time payment of more than half a billion dollars.

Both are before taxes.

The odds of winning are one in 292 million.

If a player wins Wednesday’s jackpot, they will have the choice between an annuitized prize estimated at $1.30 billion or a lump sum payment estimated at $589.0 million.

Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5 percent each year.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play.
